Brand History

Highland Park is said to have been founded in the 1790s by Magnus Eunson, a preacher from Gallowhill and in its early years operated entirely illegally, hiding its output in numerous places including the church pulpit.

The distillery is set on a hillside near Kirkwall, capital of the Orkney Islands and at 58.6 deg North is the northernmost distillery in the world. The site was chosen for its plentiful supply of clean spring water. In 1888, son of the manager of The Glenlivet became managing partner and later owner until Highland Distilleries (now known as The Edrington Group) acquired it in 1937.

It is one of only 5 distilleries which still insists that certain practises are performed by hand, other distilleries having discontinued them many years ago. The abiding care and attention, the hallmark of Highland Park production, manifests itself in the distinctive aromatic, full-bodied floral sweetness of the whisky. Located in a cold, harsh climate, the elements contribute much of the whisky’s unique character.

Appearance: Glowing amber
Aroma: Honey sweetness; peaty smokiness
Taste: Smokey sweetness; full malt flavour

Highland Park 18YO

Appearance: Burnished gold, clear and bright
Aroma: Rich, mature oak; note of smokiness
Taste: Rich, full flavour; honey and peat. Soft, long finish

Highland Park 25YO

Appearance: Dark, golden red
Aroma: Very rich, mature oak; chocolate, fudge
Taste: Soft, nutty and honeyed. Long, sweet finish
